Great article. I’ll just leave you with this quote:
“Postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis are real illnesses. You can’t just snap out of it. There’s no shame in getting help, don’t suffer through it in silence. As hard as it was for me to tell my family what I was going through, it was the best thing I could have done.”
This was an interesting article about how to properly squat while giving birth.
The benefits of hiring a doula are being studied. This is a report of one of those studies that found a correlation between using a doula and a better outcome for mother and baby, less healthcare cost, and a greater satisfaction with the birth experience.
This is a really great article about swaddling and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Spoiler alert: There is no solid evidence indicating that swaddling (an excellent way to calm a crying baby) increases the risk of SIDS when other safe environmental practices are utilized. I highly recommend every parent read this article. I also strongly advise learning about measures to reduce SIDS and make sure everyone who may care for your infant understands the proper safe environmental practices.
