The Well-Rounded Mama is a site focusing on pregnancy and birth with the plus-size woman/woman of size. It is an excellent site for encouragement for the mother who has been or felt scorned or criticized by the medical establishment or culture in general for being overweight and pregnant. As a size-friendly doula, I support women to feel empowered and confident in their ability to birth how they desire and become wonderful moms no matter their size.
Quite books are activity books for smaller children (and maybe for a few of us bigger children). These are great as a distraction for siblings when mom needs to nurse or just needs a few minutes of quite. Julie has created several quite books and has placed the pattern pdfs in her Etsy store. She has also made a Jedi book, a Harry Potter book, a Lord of the Rings book, an Avengers book, Harry Potter finger puppets, and Star Wars and Star Trek finger puppets . As a major geek, I love these books and will admit that I would probably get a kick out of playing with them myself. LOL You may enjoy making some of your own if you are craft or maybe suggesting a couple as a baby shower gift from someone you know that loves to craft.
These are some great ideas. I would suggest never putting ice directly on your skin. There are many instructions on Pinterest for padscicles you may want to try.
In pregnancy, especially near the end, your feet and ankles will likely swell. This is often due to your hormones changing, the additional weight you are now carrying, among other reasons. A nice foot soak can help and adding a little lavender will make it especially relaxing. Maybe you can even talk dad into giving you a bit of a foot massage to go with it. 🙂
Here is a great idea! If you have a large house or multiple floors, I would suggest putting one of these on every floor and/or any room that you plan to feed your baby.
